Day 1 :
Depart gateway city

AHI FlexAir passengers depart for Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Day 2 :
Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Arrive at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Proceed through immigration to the baggage claim area and retrieve your luggage. After completing customs, AHI FlexAir passengers traveling on flights that qualify for the group arrival transfer and Land Program passengers who have purchased seats on the group transfer should exit the baggage claim area and proceed to the designated meeting spot, where an AHI Travel representative will meet them. The meeting location will be provided with your final documents.

Transfer to the pier and embark the MS Amadeus Silver III.

Excursion: Canal Cruise
Board a canal cruiser for a unique tour of Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands and the center of the country’s culture and commerce. Named after the city’s origin as a dam in the river Amstel, today Amsterdam is known the world over for its more than 60 miles of tree-lined canals and waterways that make this romantic city truly unforgettable. The three main canals were dug during the Golden Age of the 17th century, and that central area is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Admire some of the city’s 1,500 bridges, dozens of islands, charming Dutch homes and the architectural gems of the bustling city harbor during a guided cruise with a local expert.

Day 3 :
Amsterdam/Kampen

Enjoy a satisfying breakfast onboard the ship each morning of your journey.

Educational Focus: Contemporary Holland
Review the current state of affairs in the Netherlands, a constitutional monarchy, and discuss its future as a member of the European Union with a local expert.

Personalize Your Cruise | Choose one of the following excursions.
• Keukenhof Gardens
Journey through Dutch flower fields to the renowned Keukenhof Gardens, an 80-acre paradise of tulips, hyacinths and other beautiful flowers. More than nine miles of footpaths crisscross the grounds, which also feature Europe’s largest fountain, a vast sculpture garden and a 700-tree labyrinth. Walk the grounds with your expert guide and learn the story of these magnificent gardens.
• Waterland Ride
Embrace Holland’s bicycle culture like a local and pedal through lush Waterland on a guided ride. Waterland, an iconic wetland north of Amsterdam, is composed of nine villages and boasts stunning views, as well as hundreds of official monuments.
• Dutch Art
Visit the Rijksmuseum with its outstanding collection of masterpieces, featuring works by 17th-century Dutch masters Rembrandt, Vermeer and Frans Hals. Highlights include Rembrandt’s portraits, self-portraits and drawings, as well as his largest canvas, “The Night Watch.”

This evening, cruise to Kampen, where the ship overnights.

Day 4 :
Kampen/Giethoorn

Excursion: Giethoorn
Laced with footpaths and narrow canals traversed by wooden, arched bridges, the whimsical, car-free village of Giethoorn seems to have materialized out of a fairy tale. Roam through the four miles of picturesque canals by boat. Soak in the scene of exquisite, 18th-century farmhouses set against the Weerribben Wieden nature preserve as you immerse yourself in the pleasures of small-town Dutch life.

Educational Focus: The Dutch Masters
Consider how the pioneering brush strokes of Golden Age artists like Rembrandt van Rijn, Johannes Vermeer, Jans Steen and Frans Hals forever changed the art of painting. This afternoon, join your Travel Director for a short orientation tour of Kampen.

Independent Exploration
Spend the remainder of the afternoon at leisure in the historic city of Kampen. The ship departs Kampen this evening.

Day 5 :
The Hague/Delft

Very early this morning, the ship docks in Utrecht.

Personalize Your Cruise | Choose one of the following excursions.
• The Hague and Delft
Travel to The Hague, the seat of the Dutch government and home of the royal Dutch residence and a number of world-class museums. Visit the Mauritshuis, a storied museum recently renovated and home to Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring.” Enjoy a panoramic tour of The Hague, and be sure to snap some pictures at the Peace Palace. Then continue to Delft, the site of a collection of lovely canal houses. On a guided walking tour, stroll the Market Square and admire the sights of Old Delft, including the Palace Prinsenhof, once home to William of Orange.
• The Hague and Royal Delft
Take a panoramic tour of The Hague, then continue to Delft, where you will stroll through the Market Square and Old Delft before visiting Royal Delft, a porcelain factory that is the last of its kind, to learn about the art. You also will see a master painter at work. Continue to a museum that boasts an impressive collection of Delft porcelain.

Independent Exploration: Enjoy time at leisure for lunch and other sightseeing in Delft.

Rejoin the ship in Schoonhoven and cruise to Willemstad.

Day 6 :
Veere

The ship arrives in Veere this morning. Make your own plans in Veere, or join the Elective Excursion to the Zeeland Coast. The sleepy port town of Veere is considered one of the prettiest in the Netherlands. The impressive houses and public buildings that line its quaint streets stand testament to Veere’s history of prosperity.

Elective Excursion: The Zeeland Coast and the Dutch Battle Against the Sea
Travel along the Zeeland coast to the artificial island of Neeltje Jans and its Delta Expo. Learn about the Delta Works, a series of massive dams and storm surge barriers, conceived after the 1953 North Sea flood and built over a period of 30 years. These 65 enormous gates can be slammed shut on the North Sea when powerful storms strike — an engineering masterpiece that now protects the third of the landmass of the Netherlands that sits below sea level. An unforgettable new panoramic 3D exhibit allows you to experience how the North Sea waves wiped out part of the country in 1953.

Day 7 :
Bruges/Antwerp

This morning, cruise to Middelburg.

• Cultural Bruges
Visit Bruges, a romantic city laced with picturesque canals. This romantic town’s nickname, the Venice of the North, is well-deserved. Stroll along winding cobbled lanes and across tiny arched bridges on a guided walking tour that includes the marketplace, Belfry Tower and Basilica of the Holy Blood. Continue to the Groeninge Museum, home to a collection of Flemish Primitive and neoclassical works.
• Bruges and Beer
Enjoy a similar tour of Bruges, but instead of the museum experience, visit the De Halve Maan Brewery, where you will learn about this family business and the history of Belgian brewing. Admire a panoramic view of Bruges from the roof of the building, then enjoy a beer.
• Bruges and Belgian Chocolate
After the tour of Bruges, walk to a chocolatier’s shop, where you will learn about the art of making Belgian chocolates. Talk with chocolate experts and enjoy a sample.

Independent Exploration
Enjoy free time to linger over lunch and explore Bruges at your leisure. Perhaps explore the friendly shops or cafés on the square. Or maybe you’ll step into one of the city’s incredible art galleries or museums, showcasing priceless paintings from the revolutionary Flemish Primitive movement that evolved in Bruges during the 1420s.

Rejoin the ship in Antwerp, where it overnights. This evening, dine aboard the ship, or participate in the Elective Activity in Antwerp.

Elective Activity: Dinner on the Town
Savor a wonderful multi-course dinner at an authentic Belgian restaurant in the old harbor area.

Day 8 :
Antwerp

Educational Focus: Contemporary Belgium
Learn about this region of Europe, which is located at the historical crossroads of many major trading routes. Belgium is a bilingual country, with deep cultural, geographic and linguistic divisions between the Dutch speakers of Flanders and the French speakers of Wallonia.

Excursion: Antwerp
Stroll through Antwerp, one of Europe’s leading art centers, on a guided walking tour. Home of painter Peter Paul Rubens and the School of the Southern Netherlands, Antwerp dates back to the 13th century and features a wealth of medieval architecture. Between the 15th and 17th centuries, this bustling seaport was a hotbed of artistic fervor — Quentin Massys, “Velvet” Breughel and many others lived and worked in Antwerp. Their treasures are preserved today in the city’s many churches and museums. Antwerp is well-versed in gems of all sorts: More than 80% of the world’s rough diamonds pass through the city’s Diamantkwartier, making it the largest diamond district in the world.

Independent Exploration
Your final afternoon is at leisure in Antwerp. Perhaps you’ll relax at a café on the bustling Groenplaats, or Green Square, as you relish magnificent views of the 16th-century Cathedral of Our Lady, a soaring Gothic beacon.

Tonight, gather for a Graduation Ceremony and a Farewell Reception and Dinner.

Day 9 :
Depart for gateway city

After breakfast, AHI FlexAir passengers traveling on flights that qualify for a group transfer and Land Program passengers who have purchased seats on the group transfer depart for Amsterdam Airport Schiphol for your return flights home.
